Pensacola Dons Player ” Youngdahl ” …
This Dons player’s name was ” Youngdahl “. I do not know anything about what what position he played or any of his stats. The thing that is funny to me is the guy way in the back behind the fence … I do not know what he is doing or if he even knew that he was in the photograph, but I guess people have always been people in the background trying to make fools of themselves. The filter really accentuates the details in a b&w photo … the guy in the background and the ads on the back wall, along with the dirt in the outfield, all have a distinct and different look from just a straight b&w scan / print. I have found a stack of negatives that I found years ago, but put somewhere so that I would not lose them and ended up miss-placing them until a week ago. 12TH Avenue in Snow … February 1956 or 1957 …
This photo was made in front my father’s old studio on 12th Avenue back when it snowed in February, back in the late 1950’s … maybe 1956 or 57, I am not really sure. You can see the old Moulton’s Drug Store in the distance … this really takes me back, I can still see this scene as if it was yesterday. This little shopping area was always busy and 12th Avenue always had a lot of traffic. Then when Friendly Service and Winn-Dixie closed down, this whole area became a ghost-town in the early 1980’s for 5 or 6 years. Thanks for looking … Frank
Mr. Wentworth and Students …
This is Mr. Wentworth talking to several local high school students. I do not recognize the students or the setting. I remember my father remarking several times how Mr. Wentworth would spend time with high school students that would show interest in local history. Notice the dagger or cross on his desk that he used for a paper weight … I can assure you that having something like that on your desk today would be politically incorrect, especially if you were a teacher in the school system in 2013!! That would just be an invitation for a student to pick it up and stab a fellow inmate … I mean student. Thanks for looking and let us hear your comments … Frank

Las Javenas …
I am not sure the year on these photos, but I would guess that they were made in 1956 or 1957. I do not know any of these girls, but one or two look vaguely familiar. Las Javenas sorority was group that put on the Noel Dance for thirty years or so and it was always the largest of the Christmas dances.

Pensacola Beach House …
This was made back in the early 1960’s. A family named “King” owned this house that was located on the Gulf. I can remember my parent’s renting houses like this when I was growing up and how much fun we had staying at the beach for a week. It was always the highlight of my summer. Pensacola … “The City of Your Dreams” …
This photo is one someone had me copy and I saved myself a copy. I can only guess that the men are the city manager and city council. I can only guess that the time is the 1920’s and I can not be any more specific than that. I think that motto ” The City of Your Dreams ” is better than what we have now ” The Up Side of Florida “, or something to that effect. I wonder if these guys paid a hundred grand for their motto … they probably just gave someone a couple of snow cones and put their name in the paper. Times have certainly changed!!
