Entre Nous Sorority in Pensacola Florida …

Entre Nou 7 _ RTP _ 7 Feb 15 _ SFW

As usual, I do not know a thing about any of the girls in these photos.  When I started working with my father at the studio, we used to photograph seven or eight ( maybe even more ) of these sorority groups in Pensacola.  Most were service oriented and were affiliated with local high schools such as Pensacola High , Escambia and Woodham are the ones that come to my mind as I sit here typing this post.  I am sure that there are more and to be perfectly honest with you, even the few that I remember, I do not think that I can spell their names.  There was one at Escambia, Sans Perine, that I remember photographing for many years … in fact, I believe that Escambia High School seemed to have the most girl’s clubs.  The above photo looks to have been taken at someone’s home outside on the lawn / patio.  The other two photos were taken at Pensacola Country Club.  I have no clue of the exact date, but these would have to have been made sometimes in the 1950’s.  Maybe someone might recognize one of the girls in the photos and will let us know.  Here are several more photos …

Entre Nou 6 RTP _ 7 Feb 15 _ SFW

I have some more photos from this sorority that were taken at this same time that I will work-up and post at a later date.  I do not remember when the Pensacola Country Club was laid out like this … the stairs are the same, but an entrance was made in back of where the girls in the front row are standing.  If anyone remembers anything about the Entre Nous sorority,   please let us hear from you.  For those of you out there that do not speak French, Entre Nous means ” between ourselves “.  And, no I do not speak French, but I am pretty fluent in ” Google “.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

Weaver’s Furniture Store …

I think that Weaver’s Furniture Store was located over on “T” Street in Brownsville, but as usual, I am not sure about that.  One thing I am sure of … whatever they were selling … people sure wanted.  The customers are lined around the building.  I do not know if it was TV’s or refrigerators ( must have been a Westinghouse product, judging by the sign on the roof ), but whatever it was, they sure wanted to buy them.  Here is one showing the line …

Look at that line … maybe it was their Grand Opening.  Whatever it was, it sure drew a crowd.  One more …

Doesn’t this look like ” T ” Street to you?  I almost would say that this building is still located there off ” T ” Street, somewhere north of the old ” Pleezing Grocery ” building.  If anyone remembers Weaver’s Furniture Store or where this building is, please let us hear from you.  Thanks again for looking …

Mitchell Motors …

with 12 comments

Here are several of the Oldsmobile dealership … Mitchell Motors.  This dealership used to be on the corner of Pace Blvd and Garden / Navy Blvd.  Above is the part’s / service department.  Notice how the service representative is wearing a white lab coat.  Below is a panorama view of the exterior of the dealership.

I cannot remember when Mitchell Motors moved out to City Car, but I know that they were at this location for many years.  I am not sure of the year that these photos were taken … maybe some of you will recognize these car models and help me with a year.  Thanks for looking …

Al’s Bar …

with 7 comments

This is Al’s Bar on Gulf Beach Highway.  It was located four or five blocks out from Navy Blvd, almost across from Sunset that runs in front of the old Navy Point Shopping Center.  I do not know if Al’s is still there, most likely not since this photo was made in the 1950’s.  I know one thing … Al’s patrons sure had a fine taste in cars!
