Yogi Begging For Food …
Yes, ladies and gentlemen … that is a bear ( it could be Yogi or maybe BooBoo ) stopping this car and is begging for food. This was back in the 1940’s when bears were nice and friendly and you were not scared of a bear ripping your arm out it’s socket or attacking you for no apparent reason. Why, I bet this bear would even let you rub his head and the worst thing that could happen would be him slobbering on you or giving you a big old bear kiss. I long for the good old days … how about you? I imagine that this was out in Yellowstone National Park or maybe Yosemite Park. Let me hear you bear stories … I know that some of you out there have had to run across a friendly bear or two in your travels. Thanks for looking and that is all for now … Frank
Another from Yosemite Park …
I posted a 4×5 color transparency of one of these images last year. I do not believe that I posted this exact image on the old site, but here is one from another view that is not in too bad of shape. I have left the film edge in on purpose. I know that I have an image of this same scene somewhere that I have cleaned-up and when I find it I will post-it. I have run across several scenes of this same view, but none of them show much of the water in the foreground. I have personally never been here and I am sure the place has changed quite a bit since these images were taken back in the 1950’s. Thanks for looking and all comments are welcomed …
Yosemite Falls …
This is a 4×5 transparency my father made back in the 1950’s from one of his trips out west to visit his sister in Los Angeles. I have 20 or more images from these various National Parks that I will post again. I left the color from the transparency and did not bother to correct it for the old Kodachrome look. Bet you did not know that Kodachrome was made in sheet film back in the 50’s … I do not know for how long, but it was made in other sizes beside 35mm for a time. Stay tuned for more …
