Frank Hardy Made My Photographs Two

This is one from the old site.  My father used to drive out Hwy 90 to visit his sister in Los Angeles in the 1940’s.  This hotel is in Alpine Texas.  I never could figure out why he might have been in Alpine Texas until I looked at a road atlas and saw that Hwy 90 ran through this town.  Can you imagine driving from Pensacola to LA on a two lane highway?   Welcome to road travel before the interstate!  I personally have a hard time imagining driving for more than several hundred miles on county roads before I have to jump back on the interstate.  I like the backroads, but after 3 or 4 hours of 50 mph, I get a little bored and have to jump back on the big ” I ” .   All comments are welcomed … thanks for looking ,,,
