The ” Milk Bottle ” …

with 24 comments

I can remember my dad taking us the Milk Bottle many a nights for ice creme when I was young.  It was located where the parking lot across the Pensacola Civic Center is now located.  I think that would be the corner of Davis and Gregory Streets.  I do not remember ever going inside and eating … I can only remember driving up in the car and I believe someone came out and took your order.  And I do not think that they were on roller skates!  Let us hear your memories from the Milk Bottle … thanks for looking.

Throwing The Bouquet at The San Carlos Hotel …

with 3 comments

One more wedding reception photograph at the San Carlos Hotel.  This was ” THE PLACE ” to throw the bridal bouquet when the reception was held in the ballroom upstairs.  I do not know how these girls caught the bouquet while they were holding their own bouquets.  The little girl in the front looks as if she could care less about what is happening …

Wedding Photo at the San Carlos Hotel …

leave a comment »

I do not know who the two young ladies are in the photo.  The  envelope just says  ” Cole Wedding ” and I did not write the date down.  The reception was at the San Carlos Hotel upstairs on the 5TH floor … I believe it was the 5TH floor, but I could be wrong.  That is some rug and wall pattern.  It looks like it was at some Las Vegas hotel and not one in Pensacola.  At least the girls are pretty!  As usual all comments are welcomed …

Cochise Arrives in Pensacola …

with 9 comments

Here is Michael Ansara, ” Cochise “, arriving in Pensacola.  As you can tell, he wore his Indian costume on the plane from Los Angeles … I doubt Homeland Security would allow that to happen today.   He sure was a good sport about all of this, but I am sure that he realizes what side his bread is buttered on, as the old saying goes.  It is a shame that more of the so called “celebrities” do not understand that today.  If anyone has any stories of when he was here in Pensacola, please share them with us.  One more thing, the lady looking at the camera on the left was his lady friend that came with him.  I have another photo of the two of them with a group of people that I will post later.  Thanks for looking …

Cordova Park Aerial …

with 8 comments

This aerial was made back in 1959 … the roads were still dirt at this time.  I identified Bayou Blvd and also Dunwoody Drive to help orient you.  The ” Round-House ” in the bottom of the frame is featured in a prior post where my father had used a Wide-Lux Panorama Camera.  This is a new photo that I ran across several months back and was not posted on the old site.  To the right of the lettering ” Bayou Blvd ” is where Trinity Presbyterian is located today.  Thanks for looking …

Cochise at The Town House …

with 2 comments

This is a photo of Michael Ansara, ” Cochise “, that my dad made when he flew here to Pensacola to dedicate a sign for the Indian Geronimo.  I doubt that it would be done today, with all the political correctness out there, but Mr. Ansara seemed to be a good sport about the whole thing.  My dad said he was very nice and agreed to whatever anyone asked him to do.  I have several other photos of him that I will post as I come across them.  Thanks for looking …

Brenda Lee in Pensacola …

with 6 comments

When my dad made this photo of Brenda Lee,  she was 14 at the time and had her first number one record on the radio.  I do not know what radio station this was taken at, but it was probably either WCOA or WBSR.  The lady that is interviewing Miss Lee asked to be cropped out of this photo, since she says that she is a private person and I sure do not want to offend anyone with their presence on this blog if they wish not to be on here.  I am not sure if Miss Lee  gave a concert down at the Municipal Auditorium or anywhere else … if anyone knows whether or not she performed while she was  in the area, please let us know.  Thanks for looking …

The Coca-Cola Show at WEAR …

with 4 comments

These are all new images from the ” Coca – Cola Show ” that was broadcast from WEAR Channel 3 back in the 1950’s.  I ran across them years ago, but they were in such bad condition, I kept putting them aside.  So, several weeks ago I started working on them and have gotten a few ready to post here.  I do not know who any of the people are, as usual, but to look at how far television technology is come is interesting … the guy behind the TV camera looks to have a pie plate or a hub-cap attached to this camera stand for some reason.  Notice that he has his coffee cup attached to a plate on the tripod in case he gets thirsty and needs a drink.  The lady on the right looks vaguely familiar … but I can not put a name to her.

A little musical interlude …

Before we bring out the dancing girls.  I would guess that these girls are from some local high school dance ensemble, maybe Escambia since it is out on that side of town.  Well, at least it is either Escambia, Pensacola or Tate High Schools since they were the only white high schools in Pensacola back in the 1950’s.  So, at least I have a 33.33% of being correct!  Here is another photo …

This looks as if it might be some type of skit … that looks like some guy dressed up like a girl on the right.  One thing you can say about WEAR is that they never skimped on set decorations.  The card  table sort of looks new, well maybe at least it looks as if it was bought in the 50’s and not World War II salvage.  I really hope that someone from WEAR sees these and might offer some insight into when this show might have run and who some of the people are in these photos.  I have some more photographs  from the Jarrard Motors Show that was broadcast from out there at Channel 3 from around this time.  That show was really high tech … they had a chalk board for car prices!!  As always, all comments are welcomed.  Thanks again for looking …

Beach Beauty …

with 6 comments

I am not sure of this lady’s name, so I am not going to mention it.  My dad used to do a lot of these type photos for the beauty contests that they used to stage at the Casino on Pensacola Beach.  I have some photos that I posted on the old site that I will find and post so you can see what I am talking about.  Thanks for looking …
