The Coca-Cola Show at WEAR …
These are all new images from the ” Coca – Cola Show ” that was broadcast from WEAR Channel 3 back in the 1950’s. I ran across them years ago, but they were in such bad condition, I kept putting them aside. So, several weeks ago I started working on them and have gotten a few ready to post here. I do not know who any of the people are, as usual, but to look at how far television technology is come is interesting … the guy behind the TV camera looks to have a pie plate or a hub-cap attached to this camera stand for some reason. Notice that he has his coffee cup attached to a plate on the tripod in case he gets thirsty and needs a drink. The lady on the right looks vaguely familiar … but I can not put a name to her.
A little musical interlude …
Before we bring out the dancing girls. I would guess that these girls are from some local high school dance ensemble, maybe Escambia since it is out on that side of town. Well, at least it is either Escambia, Pensacola or Tate High Schools since they were the only white high schools in Pensacola back in the 1950’s. So, at least I have a 33.33% of being correct! Here is another photo …
This looks as if it might be some type of skit … that looks like some guy dressed up like a girl on the right. One thing you can say about WEAR is that they never skimped on set decorations. The card table sort of looks new, well maybe at least it looks as if it was bought in the 50’s and not World War II salvage. I really hope that someone from WEAR sees these and might offer some insight into when this show might have run and who some of the people are in these photos. I have some more photographs from the Jarrard Motors Show that was broadcast from out there at Channel 3 from around this time. That show was really high tech … they had a chalk board for car prices!! As always, all comments are welcomed. Thanks again for looking …
it was a big deal when WEAR got little flashing things to put on the weather board. At least on one occasion, I remember seeing the weather reporter (I believe Lynn Toney) fishing around in a cardboard box for the right little flashing thing to put on the board.

WEAR Channel 3 was a wonderful addition to Pensacola. Lynn Toney and his leopard skin suit. Lynn had a children’s show every afternoon in the fifties. Another personality was Big Leroy Morris. He would do humorous commercials for Jarrard Motors. One of the newscasters later went to Congress for NW Florida. His first name was Earl. I met him in his congressional office in 94 and we shared memories of Pensacola. Bill Kreitlein

Bill … I think I have a photo posted on here somewhere of Big Jim Morris offering me a ukelele. I know that I had posted it on the other site and I can not remember if I had put it up here. I have a photo of Lynn Toney that I will post later, but he is not in his leopard skin suit. Thanks for the comment … Frank
