Suter School Play …
With Suter School being in the news with their new school building completed and open for students this week, I thought that I would post a photo from one of the plays that the school used to put on in the 1950’s. I have several envelopes of negatives from plays back in the 1950’s … maybe ’54, ’55 and ’56 and there are thirty of forty negatives per bag. I have posted some in earlier posts and did not get many comments or looks, so I do not really expect much from this one. One bad thing about these negatives is that they are not in very good shape and take more work in Photoshop to get them ready to post. You can type in ” Suter School ” in the search button on the right hand side of the blog and the other posts should pop up. The more I think about it as I type this up, I might have had four or five comments from people who recognized someone in the play. One side note, the posts that get the most attention are ones from Modesto California … can you believe that? To me, I can not figure that one out. However, I do appreciate all of the people looking for Modesto photos from back in the 1950’s. Another interesting fact is that I never knew anything about the Modesto images until my father died and I ran across them when I was sorting through all of the tens of thousand negatives that I have. In fact, I did not know that a lot of the negatives where of Modesto until people started commenting on them. Thanks for looking and I did not mean to get off on Modesto … Frank
A Few More From The Suter School Play …
Here are two more photos that I had worked up and had not posted yet from the Suter School play. I do not know if this play was called – Around The World or if that was just the name of the hot air balloon. These carnival plays / pageants must have been popular in the 1950’s, because I have found several negative envelopes from Clubb’s junior high school, also. A good friend of mine mentioned to me that her sister was crowned ” Queen of Clubb’s ” at one of the pageants and I happened to find a photo of her being crowned. Here is one more below …
I will hunt down those other negative envelopes containing Suter School plays and let you know in a future post what they are and from what year. One lady commented and asked me if I have any from a ” Peter Rabbit ” play and I told her that I was not sure what the negatives were from, but I would find them and let her know. Thanks everyone for looking and all comments are welcomed …
Suter School Play …
Back in 1950’s, A.K. Suter School over in East Pensacola Heights used to put on these plays … for that matter, several other schools did also because I have run across several other negative envelopes from Clubbs Junior High School. I know nothing at all about any of this, but I cleaned up several negatives and thought that I would throw them up on here. Here is one more photograph that I worked up …
I do not know who any of these kids are and the only reason I chose them was because these negatives required the least amount of Photoshop to get them ready to post. I have run across 4 or 5 negative envelopes from Suter School Plays and each bag contains 20 or 30 negatives each. Sometime in the future I will get around to working them up and posting some more of the photographs. I do not know when, but in the not too distant future. Also, someone sent me the back of a play program that had an ad for my father’s studio …
How many of you out there can remember Carl’s Bakery? It’s address is listed on Garden Street, but I remember it being over on Davis. There used to be another bakery over on Gadsden Street, but I cannot remember it’s name … anybody know? Thanks for looking and all comments are appreciated …
P S – I did not scan the above program page … it was emailed to me, so it is low resolution and the small print is hard to read. If anyone comes across anything like this page, I am interested in it. But I need to scan whatever in high resolution and the knock it down to low resolution to post on the web. Thanks for the comments about that …
