Anyone Recognize Any of These People …
Do any of these people look familiar to you? The man on the far left looks vaguely familiar to me … no clue to the lady … the next guy, maybe and the guy on the end, no clue. The photo is torn in several places and is not in very condition and I can not even identify where the photo was made or what they are standing in front of. I have a feeling someone out there will recognize someone in this photo. To the people here in the panhandle, I hope that you made it through the rain storm unscathed and all right. For the people who did not, I feel for you … we lost our home in Hurricane Ivan, had more damage the following year with Dennis, so I know what you are going through. You just have to remember that time heals everything … that no matter how bad it looks today, it does get better. When ? Well. that is the $64,000 question. So good luck and if anyone knows any of these people, leave a comment. Thanks for looking … Frank
the guy on the left looks like Jack Dempsey but not sure what the association would be or if was ever here…

Thanks for the comment. Read the comment that I will post in response from Rose Thames. I do not remember ever hearing my father mention Jack Dempsey ever coming to Pensacola, but that does not mean that he never did. I appreciate the comment very much and thanks the time for viewing my blog … Frank

The gentleman in the bow-tie is Victor Kalfus. He was a wrestling promoter. The man on the far right is John Berdanis. If I had to guess about the man on the left, I would say it was Max Bear, well known actor and wrestler. I don’t recognize the lady.

Mrs Thames … Thanks for commenting. My father was good friends with the Kalfus family. Jack was my age, I used to deal with Lou when she worked at Barnett Bank and my father was devastated when Lou retired from Barnett. When she retired, that was end end of personalized service from banks. I think that she was his bank officer for thirty years or so. I do remember him talking about Mr. Kalfus being a fight promoter / manager before he went to work out at NAS. And I do remember him mentioning Max Bear coming to Pensacola and doing an exhibition when the fights used to be held in a ring on the beach out front of the Casino back in the 1930’s or so. So you are probably right. I might google ” Max Baer ” and see if any photos pop up on him. Thanks again for commenting and it is very nice to hear from you … Frank
