Billory Baptist Church, Holley Florida …
This was the original Billory Baptist Church in Holley Florida. I would guess that this was made back in the 1950’s. I want to say that this church has been torn down, because I know that another larger was built in the 1970’s. If anyone knows any history about this church, please share it with us. Frank, I LOVE this picture. This is how it looked when I was a child. I was saved and Baptized in the original Billory Baptist Church. I was married in the new church, (which is how I will always refer to it) is beautiful But the original Church holds wonderful childhood memories.

You are welcome … My wife’s grandmother is Jewell Wells Golden and she was raised in Holly. This church was before my time, I think that it was the late 1978 or 79 before I went to Holly and photographed my first wedding there in the area. Thanks again for commenting and please check back … Frank

Jewell Wells Golden is my Great Aunt. She is my Grandfather Ira D Wells’ Sister. Aunt Jewell is a true Southern Belle! I have wonderful memories of Aunt Jewel and
Uncle Albert.

Frank, Do I have you permission to forward this email of the beautiful old photo of Billory Baptist Church to a friend of mine that will be able to tell you the complete History of Billory Baptist. His Dad (Pastor Guy Kellum) who is now deceased was a pastor there for many years. The friend’s name is Larry Kellum and he attended the Church for many years and left and has now returned to Billory Baptist.
Thank you for posting this wonderful photo of the Church! The ceiling of the Church that stands there now is built like the hull of of a ship and is beautiful. I attended there for awhile and left but I am planning on returning there. The Pastor that is there now is Pastor Doug Gilmore, who is a very good Pastor!

Feel free to do whatever you would like with anything that I post on this site. I appreciate you being considerate and asking. I do not know whether my father actually made this photo. This negative was in a box that contained ” copy negatives “. I just thought that it was a nice image of a church with the Spanish moss hanging from the trees … it just looked like Old Florida to me.
