Frank Hardy Made My Photographs Two

Chapel in the Old Sacred Heart Hospital …

with 7 comments

This is still one of my favorite images from the old hospital.  I ran it through a filter … Lucis Art Filter … and this filter really brings out the detail in images.  Just look at the altar and all of the trim around the ceiling.  Believe it or not, I can still remember this chapel in the old hospital.  The room itself was not very large, maybe 15 x30 feet.  I have several prints of this in the works right now … check back with me later and I will let you know how and where you can view them.  If any of you remember this chapel in the old hospital, let us hear from you.  Thanks for looking … Frank

  1. This is a wonderful photo of Sacred Heart chapel, Frank! I appreciate you taking time to use the filter to enhance the image. I was born at the old Sacred Heart Hospital. I’m so glad that building is still being used today. Thank you for your outstanding website! Frances Scott Coe

    • Billy … I would say yes, but where exactly on the second floor I do not remember. But I can remember going into the chapel as a small kid and I remember it very vividly, almost as if it were yesterday. Thanks for the comment and we will have to get together in the near future so I can show you some of these images as prints. Frank

    • The Chapel was second floor on north end, Loblolly Theater was there the last decade or so. If you went to a play there you were sitting in that room. behind the stairwell to the second floor on that end is another stairwell that goes into the back of where the alter was.
In the 70’s I took a drivers Ed class in that room.
