Brenda Lee in Pensacola …
When my dad made this photo of Brenda Lee, she was 14 at the time and had her first number one record on the radio. I do not know what radio station this was taken at, but it was probably either WCOA or WBSR. The lady that is interviewing Miss Lee asked to be cropped out of this photo, since she says that she is a private person and I sure do not want to offend anyone with their presence on this blog if they wish not to be on here. I am not sure if Miss Lee gave a concert down at the Municipal Auditorium or anywhere else … if anyone knows whether or not she performed while she was in the area, please let us know. Thanks for looking …
Frank, Brenda did perform at the Municipal Auditorium, I was there and the same age she was! Many years later I saw her at the fair here and had a chance to speak to her……I told her when she performed at the MA , I remembered her mascara running ,and she laughed and said ” now mascara doesn’t run, it just makes your eyelashes fall out…….she was a great gal, ” Little Miss Dynamite”

Thanks for the comment, Betty. Since the lady interviewing Brenda Lee asked to be cut out of the photo, you do not get to see where she is being photographed and it really makes the photograph more interesting, in my opinion. But if someone does not like their image being being on this blog, I honor their wishes and remove them. I think my father once said that she was only 14 or 15 when this photograph was taken. Thanks again for sharing that with us and please check back … Frank

I saw her perform at the Auditorium on the waterfront . I was so excited! She sang One Step At A Time and I loved that song at the time! Pam Kennedy Abbey

Thanks Pam … That was before my time … Any idea who played with her at the auditorium? I do not remember saying much about her and the photo that he made of her looks as if it could have been made at some radio station. Thanks for looking and the comment … Frank

Hi. Love your dad’s pictures. Don’t know if this helps or not but Brenda did perform the gulf coast in 1960 when her song, “I’m Sorry” topped the charts. I met her in Panama City and I believe she had just come from Pensacola.

Thanks Tom … My father said that she was very nice and very polite. It is hard to believe that she was only 15 at the time. Thanks for sharing your memories with us … Frank
