PHS Twirlers …
This photo was taken in front of the old Pensacola High School that was located at the top of the hill on Palafox Street across from the Confederate Memorial. This must have been made in the early 1950’s. I have a nice post card of the old PHS somewhere here on this blog. My father did not take the photo, but I thought that it is a nice image showing the old school. If anyone recognizes any of these twirlers, let us hear from you. Frank Hardy Made My Photographs Two 
Frank, I named the head majorette at the old Pensacola High School in 1953. She was Beverly Daniels Reinhardt. She was also the head majorette at the new Pensacola High School in 1954. I left out her maiden name in the other site I replied to. I was in the color guard at the new high school and travelled with the band. My cousin, Aden Pfeiffer, played the trombone in that band. And we had a blast! My future husband, Jerry Winston Higdon, Sr., attended and graduated from the old PHS building in 1951. And, then he went to the old Pensacola Junior College.

I’m thrilled to find this web site, Frank. I met you long ago, but you may not remember me. Your wonderful Father made my wedding photos Aug. 24, 1957, the wedding of Patricia Sue Hogue to Jerry Winston Higdon, at the old Woodlawn Baptist Church. I saw him Frank Sr., years later to get more photos, but he said my wedding negatives had burned in a fire at his studio. I was so sad.
I lived in Ferry Pass in 1953 and attended this old PHS building the last year it had high school classes in it. Then, I attended the first new PHS building and was in the first graduating class there in 1954. M. J. Menge, Fred Levin were in that class, also. Then, a lot of us attended Pensacola Junior College the next year, 1954-1955, in the same old PHS building we had left. It was kinda weird. I was a cheerleader at PJC and loved Basketball Coach, Louis Ross. What a cheerful, funny and loving man! We could play ping pong in the basement between classes, and it like a family. I attended several colleges, but PJC was my favorite school and always will be. President Henry Ashmore and Women’s Dean, Margaret Berrisford were loved by all. I miss this school and will never forget the experiences we had there.

He lost everything that he had in that fire. I made a post last year on the fire and I would say that I posted ten or twelve photos from the beginning of the fire to during the fire to the clean-up after and then finally the new building the Moulton’s built that we moved into with Fischler’s Framing and Dr Hoyt. Thanks Faye … I plan on keeping this going for a while … as long as I keep getting comments and people seem to be enjoying viewing them. I have stacks of negatives that I have not scanned and I plan on getting around to in the future. I do not have any plan on when I post them, just when I have some time and some images ready.
