Frank Hardy Made My Photographs Two

Personal Interest …..

with 2 comments

Although I’ve tried to keep my posts strictly focused on my father’s photography, I’m going to occasionally start putting up some of my personal work. I’ve always considered myself a generalist. I feel I can do it all from photographing your dog to your family to your home to your business. In the fifty years plus that I have been in the photography business I’ve literally done it all. So if you have a question, please don’t hesitate to ask. Or if you have a comment about something that you have seen here, please post it! Thanks for looking …

Thanks for taking the time to look. Hard to believe I haven’t done anything with this site in so long but hopefully that is going to change. Happy belated Earth Day! And pick up your trash and throw it away. Don’t leave it for the next generation!

I’m BACK!!!

with 3 comments

Greetings from Paradise!!! No, no not from Hawaii but the Panhandle of Northwest Florida! As the former Major of Pensacola used to say “ Welcome to Pensacola! The Western gate to the Sunshine State. Where thousands live and millions wish they could…” . There are a few more lines but couldn’t remember them and couldn’t find his saying when I tried to Google it. Sorry I haven’t posted any new material but that is going to change. One reason is that I use Instagram and you can find me @frankphardy .

I have a Facebook account but haven’t posted to it in years. I do check it periodically. So if anyone has sent me something and hadn’t responded is because I never saw it. Nothing personal, just don’t care for the way it is setup. I use Instagram because it is primarily set up for photography and other visual mediums.

Next is I am posting this from my iPhone. Post all my Instagram images from my phone and I don’t like typing on a phone. But figured I could try a few and see what happens. Hope to hear from you. I enjoy all the comments and questions. With that said, it’s good to be back….

I call this The Vicar. Personally I like this type of image. It’s what I call “Illustrative”. Have been trying to move my photography in this direction. Created this one several years ago.

Thanks again. One reason for coming back is that I am starting to sell my work more aggressively than I have in the past. People are purchasing and inquiring about my photography now more than ever. If interested in anything please inquire and I would be happen to explain them. Thanks again and hope everyone has a great weekend

Hopkins Boarding House …

Hopkins House 2 _ RTP 8 April 14 _ SFW

OK … I took these back about thirty years ago for Mrs. Hopkins, so technically they are not my father’s, but I thought that they were more relevant over here than over on my blog.  I cannot remember why she had me do these and as you can tell, since the parking lot is practically empty, these were made on the one day that they were closed … Monday.  I cannot tell you how many meals that I personally at here or how many meals that I carried out over a span of twenty or so years.  For a span of several years back in 1981, 82 and some of 83, I lived only a couple of blocks from here on Spring and Barcelona Streets.  This was the only restaurant that cooked and served liver that everyone seemed to enjoy.  And everyone knew about the fried chicken!  This place was around back in the 1940’s because my father used to tell a story of one of his friend’s that Mrs. Hopkins would not allow to eat there because he ate so much.  I cannot attest to that because I used to see some guys eat so much, I do not know how they were able to walk away.  Here are a couple of more views …

If these photos do not make your mouth water for some good home-cooked fried chicken, nothing will.  I can not remember if the place closed before Ed Hopkins died or it closed soon after it passed away, but I am sure that someone out there knows.  If I do not receive a dozen or so comments about these photos, I will be greatly disappointed.  If you never ate here, going to Golden Corral and Ryan’s does not even come close these days.  The one thing that I always liked was the fact you ate at a ” communal ” table with everyone.  I always enjoyed talking to strangers, so it never bothered me, but my wife was never comfortable with it all that much.  No, I am not going to run out to KFC or Church’s for a fried -chicken fix when I get through with this post.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

PS – I had one more of the north side of the house that I forgot to post earlier that showed the parking lot.  It did not hold a lot of cars, so you ended up parking in front of someone’s house several blocks away and walking.  The walk back to your car always took longer since you were always so full.  Thanks … Frank

Skipper’s …

with 25 comments

Before Skipper’s was a dive shop, it was a fishing tackle store.  I do not remember it as a fishing tackle store … I just remember it as a dive store.  In fact I got my diving certificate from Joe Kingry ( the owner ) back in 1969 … 43 year ago.  I have not been scuba diving in years, but I have snorkeled down in Belize in the last 7 or 8 years.  One good thing about getting your scuba diving certification is that it is good for life, so you can rent scuba gear wherever you travel.  In fact that reminds me to go find my scuba card …

Thanks for looking and as usual, all comments are welcome …
