First Methodist Musicians 2 _ RTP_SFW _ 11 July 13

This is a group of musicians from First Methodist Church in downtown Pensacola Florida on Wright Street from the 1950’s.  I believe that the organist’s name is Morrison, but I am not positive about that.  None of the other musicians look vaguely familiar.  Here is one more of the group …

I know that someone out there will see this and let us know who they are, it just might take a little time.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

  2. Mr. Morrison, at the organ, was my 1st piano teacher. I remember he whacked my fingers with a ruler when I messed up! He lived with his Mother on Jackson Street, she attended Richard’s Memorial United Methodist Church the church I was raised up in.

    • Someone called me a while back and said that he is still alive and living there still on Jackson Street. I never took lessons from him, but I remember him from First Methodist Church. My wife’s mother and step-father went to Richard’s Memorial … Herbert and Roberta Hays. She died over ten years ago and Herbert moved down near Orlando six or seven years ago. Roberta used to take our daughters to Richards and they were in the Christmas play for several years back in the 1990’s. Thanks for taking the time to write and please check back … Frank

  3. The violinist to the far left in the first photo is Bobby Camp. I am almost positive he was her very first student when she moved to Pensacola after marrying my grandfather.

    • Thanks for the comment and yes, I knew Mrs. Tringas. Not very well, but I was in Boy Scouts with her sons and I went to school at the Academy of Arts and Sciences with Greg. I have not seen either in 30 years or more … our paths just never seem to cross. Frank

  4. The female violinist is my grandmother, Anna Tringas. I believe that you knew her. :) She did not attend the Methodist Church. This must have been a chamber music concert they did. I have never seen this picture before. Thank you!

    • Even though I do not know the people in these photos, I feel that this being Pensacola, somebody will see someone that they know and will enjoy looking at the images I post. So many times I have looked at a photo and decided not to post it, but I run across it several years later and I think that someone might see a family member or a friend and then I am glad that I did. I still have thousands of negatives and have been through many of them thinking that they do not say anything to me, so I just set them aside. Thanks for commenting … it is nice to know that local Pensacola people see what I put up … Frank
