Doc, Kitty and Friends …
Here is Doc ( Milburn Stone ) and Kitty ( Amanda Blake ) from the tv show ” Gunsmoke ” with some friends from Pensacola down at the Town-House Motor Lodge on Cervantes. I do not know who the couple is in the middle, but both the man and the lady pop-up in different photos that I have run across. The man could have something to do with the Chamber, since he always seems to be in the welcoming committee at the airport when these celebrities arrive. The lady is in a photo I posted a while back with John Wayne and I think she is in several photos made at Son Motors. However, it is a nice group photo showing what a good time these celebrities are shown when they come to Pensacola. Thanks for looking … Frank
Yes, these are my grandparents, Alvin and Millie Head. They built and owned The Townhouse.

Don’t know if this is the same visit, but “Doc” and “Kitty” made an appearance at a dance I attended in the old municipal auditorium at the end of Palafox. If I remember correctly, a local radio station had a contest. The high school which got the most “whatevers” (I forget what) would win a “Prom” with Ace Cannon playing at the Municipal Auditorium. Oddly enough, Catholic High won. We had a relatively small school, so most of the auditorium was pretty empty. I think it was during this dance that Milburn Stone and Amanda Blake showed up, said a few words, and shook some hands. This would have been somewhere around 1961-63.

Chris … Thanks for identifying the Head’s. I have often wondered if they were ever in any of these photos and they have been in a few. Mrs Head is seated next to John Wayne in one of my posts. Mr. Head is in a few … greeting ” Cochise ” at the airport and one of “Doc” and “Kitty” getting out of a buggy in front of the Town House Motor Lodge, which I need to find and post. Thanks for helping me out there … I have not heard from you or your sister, Candy, in thirty years. Do you live in the area? I believe I have some Bouchillion negatives that my father made in the 1950’s sometime, but it might take me a while to put my hands on them. When and if I find them, you can have them. Thanks again for the comment and please check back because I am always throwing pictures up on this blog. Keep in touch – Frank

The couple you don’t know in the photo is Mr. Head and his wife. They owned the Town House Motel. He also had a building company that build the town house and their personal house.
