Frank Hardy Made My Photographs Two

Throwing The Bouquet at The San Carlos Hotel …

with 3 comments

One more wedding reception photograph at the San Carlos Hotel.  This was ” THE PLACE ” to throw the bridal bouquet when the reception was held in the ballroom upstairs.  I do not know how these girls caught the bouquet while they were holding their own bouquets.  The little girl in the front looks as if she could care less about what is happening …

  1. It is odd, but I don’t think I have ever seen a picture of the San Carlos ballroom. It was famous, I know, but most of the pictures I have seen of the interiors are either the staircase and environs or the WCOA setup.

    • Thanks for the comment … It is funny that you mention this because I have run across several negatives of the room at the San Carlos that was used for receptions and dances. It was on the second floor, I believe, and it was at the back of the hotel. I remember having to walk down the long hallways to get to it. It was not a large room like you would associate with a ballroom, but I can remember attending a dance or two there when I was in junior high school. That was a long, long time ago and my memory is a little fuzzy. However, I can look back in my memory and picture certain events that I attended way back then. I can even remember weddings back in the 70’s, the bride’s family would rent a suite or set of rooms at the San Carlos for the bride and bridesmaids to get dressed in when the weddings was being held next door at St. Michael’s. They would not allow the family to use the rectory and the church did not have a fellowship hall like they do now. I did not mean to ramble on like that and I will find some of those negatives and post them in the future since you brought this up. Thanks again for the comment and please check back … Frank

  2. Looks to me more like she’s thinking, “Frank Hardy! strike a pose! that will last longer.”
