Cochise Arrives in Pensacola …
Here is Michael Ansara, ” Cochise “, arriving in Pensacola. As you can tell, he wore his Indian costume on the plane from Los Angeles … I doubt Homeland Security would allow that to happen today. He sure was a good sport about all of this, but I am sure that he realizes what side his bread is buttered on, as the old saying goes. It is a shame that more of the so called “celebrities” do not understand that today. If anyone has any stories of when he was here in Pensacola, please share them with us. One more thing, the lady looking at the camera on the left was his lady friend that came with him. I have another photo of the two of them with a group of people that I will post later. Thanks for looking …
My best recollection of Ansara was that he was married to Barbara “I Dream of Jeannie” Eden for a couple decades when both were very popular – lucky guy!

I did not know that, but you could tell that he was a “Lady’s Man”. He appeared to be a very nice guy and the few people that I have talked to here that met him said how cordial and nice he was. My father said that he did whatever these people who sponsored him to come to Pensacola asked and never complained. My father also said how friendly he was with everyone and autographed anything that people put in front of him and asked him to sign. I still have a few more of him that I will find and post.

That is Karen Head in this photo– She was probably there to greet him may have been asked to pose w/ him in the other one or could have been his date. That is Roy Philpot , mayor of Pensacola, at the time next to him. The other photo taken at the Town House showed her in the same dress so it must have been taken later that day.I can not recall how many yrs Mr Philpot was mayor of Pensacola .

Jane … I have often wondered who that was. I just assumed that she came from Los Angeles with Michael Ansara. Someone had told me that she had married a local builder around 1960, but the date must be wrong or the information. Thanks … Frank

Thank you, Frank. The local builder that Karen Head married was Bob Askew. (Ashley Askew Rasmussen)

The lady with beads to Karen’s left is her mother, Millie Head. Al Head is the man wearing dark hat with white band. The older lady to Al’s left with her hand on the boy’s shoulder is Millie’s mother. The boy is one of Al & Millie’s sons, perhaps Randy.

Thanks for that information. I have always wondered what the Heads’ looked like and that answers a lot of questions about who some people are in the photos. Thanks again … Frank
