John Wayne and Friend …
This is John Wayne and an unknown ” friend ” photographed at The Townhouse Motor Lodge when he was in Pensacola filming a movie. Never could find out who the lady is … anyone that has any idea, please let me hear from you. I have no back ground information on this other than what I have mentioned. The name of the movie that John Wayne was making at the time was called, ” Wings of Eagles ” . The part that showed Pensacola was only the first ten minutes or so of the movie and it was filmed out at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Thanks for looking ….

David … I will have to check that out. For some reason, I thought that she was a local lady, because she has popped up in several others images that I have posted … one on Son Motors comes to my mind …but I could be wrong and she just has a twin walking around, which could be possible. The Wings of Eagles was recently on TCM, it is about U.S. Navy pilot Frank ‘Spig’ Wead who was a proponent of the Navy having wings. Thus the story starts in the “Cradle of aviation” NAS Pensacola. There is some brief but good footage of NAS in the movie, including the beautiful oaks out there and original hangers and port area.
