Finian’s Rainbow …
This is the cast from the play ” Finian’s Rainbow ” put on by the chorus of Pensacola High School. I am not sure of the year, but it is either 1969 or 1970. I have a 1970 Pensacola Annona yearbook and I will go back to see if that was the year. I do not have any close-ups of the actors, only group views. I have several other negatives and I will see what other groups are there. I recognize on of the girls in the group and I think that she was a year or two older than me. I did not bother cropping out the people in the back and framing them better. I thought that showing all of the frame is interesting and you get to see more of what is going on …

PHS Cheerleaders 1956 …
I found this recently and thought I would post it. I have several others of this group that I will clean-up and post later. I see one girl that looks familiar, but I cannot recall her name. PHS Graduating Class of 1934 …
This is a photo of the old Pensacola High School that was located at the top of Palafox Street, one block up from where the First Baptist Church is located. In fact, part of First Baptist’s parking lot is this location. My father had made a 16×20 photograph of the school and got everyone to sign it at one of their reunions. When my father graduated in 1934, PHS did not have a yearbook that year … all that they had was a sheet of paper with all of the graduate’s names and their activities they were involved in. I do not know if this was because of the Depression or what the reason was. The photo is fairly sharp and if you click on the photo, it will open up in another window larger and you can see the name a little clearer. Thanks for looking … FRank
PHS Basball From The 1960′s …
I do not know who these PHS baseball players are, but I just thought that they look interesting. The football stadium in the background looks out of place, now I believe that this whole area has been paved and made into a parking lot.
No idea who the pitcher is, but it looks as if the football team is practicing in the background.
This is Coach Shorty Ward, I had put Coach Haines originally, and someone corrected me, which is what I hope you will do will I misappropriately identify someone or some place . I know that my father thought a lot of the man and any time that his name is mentioned, everyone speaks very highly of the Coach. But for that matter of fact, any time that a PHS coach is mentioned, no matter how tough he might have been, all of their ex-players hold them in high regards. Annie Get Your Gun …
Back in the 1960′s, the Pensacola High School Chorus used to stage musicals and they were really a production! They were as good as what you saw on Broadway … at least I thought so and all of the thousands of people that would attend the two or three shows that they would put on. These photos are from the production of ” Annie Get Your Gun “. I do not know the year or who the leads were. Here are several more photos from this production …
Notice how much detail went into creating all of the sets that were used in the play. Since this was back in the 1960′s, I am sure that the shop classes would have had to construct all of the sets. I am sure that they did not have the luxury of picking up a phone and renting what they needed to produce all of the sets and props that were needed to create the play. Everyone looks as if they are having a good time and the girls are very pretty. As usual, I do not know who any of the people are … I will go through the old Annona yearbooks that I have laying around and see if I can find some information for everyone. I know that I should have done that before I posted the photos, but I did not. I have more negatives from some of the other plays that they put on, however they are not in the best shape and it is going to take me some time to get them ready to post. Pensacola High School “Annona” Yearbook Ad …
This is another one that I ran across years ago and set aside. As usual, I am not sure these lovely young ladies are or for what yearbook ad this was photographed for … maybe a bakery, since it looks as if they are eating cake. I thought that it would bring back memories for eating in the old Pensacola High School Cafeteria. I never went to school here, but I can remember going to this cafeteria many of times when I would go over to the school with my father. Pensacola High School Baseball Team …
I have not posted any photos from Pensacola High School in a while and I came across these two negatives several years ago. I set them aside meaning to do something with them, but never did. They did not require much work, so I got them ready to post the other day. As usual, I do not recognize any of the players … they were before my time. I am not real sure of the years, but I would say early 1960′s, but they might have been 1950′s. If anyone sees anyone that looks familiar, please let us know. Below looks like the pitchers, but I cannot imagine a team this size having this many …

Pensacola High School …
I ran across this hand-colored postcard of the old Pensacola High School that was located off Palafox Street recently and thought that it was an interesting image. I do not know who made the image, but since I have a few images that where made in front of the school, I just thought it would be interesting to show a photo of the school. I know that the majorette photo was made on the front steps and I believe a band photo was made there. Thanks for looking …
